About OpenBookMap

MissionI.

OpenBookMap is a volunteer project building a global, open atlas of used bookstores and — shelf by shelf — a searchable index of the books on their shelves. We lean on OpenStreetMap for shop locations, Overpass for live queries, and a small community of contributors who snap photos of shelves.

PrinciplesII.
PrivacyIII.

What we collect. Aggregate page-view counts via GoatCounter, a cookieless, privacy-respecting analytics service. No IP addresses are stored. Users with Do-Not-Track enabled are never counted.

What we do not collect. No cookies, no cross-site tracking, no fingerprinting, no advertising identifiers.

Account data. If you sign in, we store your email address (for login) and a profile row with an optional username and bio. You can delete your account at any time — email adam@openbookmap.org.

Contributed content. Photos are released under CC-BY-SA 4.0, credited to your account. Book-title metadata is released under ODbL-compatible terms. You can delete your own contributions at any time from the Me page.
